Mission M108 Update

Mission Iberia - never change a winning team!

After last year’s trip around the Alps (click here for the story in the March 18 issue of Pilot Magazine), it was obvious that yet another flying holiday could be expected this Summer. Steven Lambert and Marc Delfosse took off from Kortijk-Wevelgem on 21st July on a Mission to the Spanish peninsula. Exploring many of the the coastal regions, they took G-XIFR to San Sebastian, Valladolid, Lisbon, Sevilla, Ibiza and more. In 14 days, 10 flights totalling 33 hours flight time were logged. A fantastic trip which once more demonstrates the Mission M108’s capabilities as an airplane for serious touring.
Steven is still busy writing the story of the trip, which will be published in due course.

Folding wings in action

The quick and easy wing folding is just one of the many attractive features of the Mission M108.
But, is it really a 5 minute job as the brochure says?
Steve Kember has recently made a video in which he takes you through the entire process. Amazingly, Steve was able to beat our spec by nearly a full minute!
As this video is very useful and highly recommended to familiarize owners and pilots with folding the wings of their Mission M108, it is available online from the Video Gallery on our website.

Mission M108 familiarization training on site

Mission M108 familiarization training with an instructor is part of the Built Assist Programme package, and feedback from participants has been overhelmingly positive. As of this Summer, we have introduced the option to take Mission M108 familiarization training at the owners home base, which may have advantages over those conducted at the factory.
One such familiarization was organized in July for Colin Cheetham at the lovely Westonzoyland airfield near Bridgwater, Somerset. This came with the additional challenge of getting Colin to a skill level that he could safely land G-VETC on a 300 metre runway. Hazards consisting of a tree and a pole very close to the threshold of RWY 33 reduce the useable length of this runway to about 300 metres.Colin obtained his PPL in 2016 and his flying experience was on the typical Group A flying club fleet, and from significantly longer runways.
Filip Lambert, Class Rating Instructor, said: “My approach was as follows. We started the circuit work at nearby Dunkeswell and I gradually set Colin tighter limits, until he was ready for a real short field. Then we flew back to Westonzoyland and kept on practising, until the landings were consistently good. In total, it took Colin not more than a dozen circuits to get him ready to go on his own. His first solo landing was perfect.”
Well done, Colin, congratulations!
