Mission M108 Update
Parachute recovery system standard fit on Mission M108
Should we do it or not? In
the design office, we asked ourselves over and over again. Would you board a
cruise ship if it didn’t have lifeboats? Would you ride a motorcycle in busy
traffic without a helmet? Would you buy your next car without seat belts if they
were on the list of options?
Remember Titanic 1912. In less than a century, the safety aspect has become one
of the most important things in modern life. Demand for safety has never been
higher than today, and the whole world is making huge efforts to continuously
improve our safety.
General Aviation is no exception. But we all know that not every emergency comes
with a chance to make a textbook forced landing. And we all know that humans can
make mistakes. We have seen it happen too many times.
So how about a device that gives you a real chance to walk away from a serious
emergency when no other options are left? Can you afford not to have it? Can you
explain to your family why you wouldn’t have it? After all, you said “See you
tonight” before you set off to the airfield, so they expect you to come home.
Think about that.
When we built the (now discontinued) M106, 20% of the aircraft were delivered
with a parachute system. A as result of retrofit installations, around 50% of
the M106 fleet is now equipped with a parachute. So today, we are ready to
take the next step by making a parachute recovery system standard fit on the
Mission M108.
The parachute recovery system is in final stages of obtaining LAA approval
and is yet another example which shows that the development team at Lambert
Aircraft Engineering is always seeking improvement and is dedicated to making
the Mission M108 the best aircraft ever in its category.
Note: To this day, there
have been no parachute deployments on a M106. But after all, it’s better to have
it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
